1. Introduction

Riverbend Live (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates riverbend.live. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our live streaming platform. By using the service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Last updated: February 2026.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Account Information — your email address and a hashed version of your password when you create an account.
  • Usage Data — events you create, streams you start, sessions you attend, and chat messages you send.
  • Technical Data — IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system, collected automatically when you access the platform.
  • Communications — the content of support emails or messages you send to us.

We do not collect payment card information directly; any payment processing is handled by a third-party processor subject to their own privacy policies.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the Riverbend Live platform.
  • To authenticate your account and maintain your session securely.
  • To send transactional emails (e.g. password resets, account notices).
  • To monitor for abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • To respond to your support requests and communications.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your personal information for advertising purposes, and we do not engage in automated profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only with the following service providers who process it on our behalf, each under their own Data Processing Agreement (DPA):

  • Wowza Video — streaming infrastructure (RTMP ingest, HLS transcoding, and delivery).
  • Neon / PostgreSQL — database hosting for account data, event data, and chat messages.
  • Vercel — frontend hosting and edge delivery.
  • Cloudinary — image uploads and optimization (event thumbnails and producer avatars).
  • Render — backend API hosting.

We may also disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
  • Chat messages are retained for 90 days, after which they are automatically purged from our database.
  • Stream recordings (where enabled via Live-to-VOD) are subject to Wowza’s own asset retention policy.
  • Backups may retain data for a short additional period as part of our disaster recovery procedures.

6. Cookies

We use a single session cookie — event_portal_session — to maintain your authenticated session. This cookie is marked HttpOnly and Secure, meaning it cannot be accessed by JavaScript and is only transmitted over HTTPS.

We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies. We do not participate in cross-site tracking.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request that inaccurate data be corrected.
  • Deletion — request that your account and associated data be deleted.
  • Portability — request a machine-readable export of your data.
  • Objection — object to certain processing activities.
  • Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@riverbendmedia.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We take the security of your data seriously. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage and are never stored or transmitted in plaintext. Session tokens are signed with HMAC-SHA256 and stored in HttpOnly cookies. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.2 or higher.

While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify affected users promptly in the event of a confirmed data breach.

9. Children

Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at privacy@riverbendmedia.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify users of material changes either by email (sent to the address associated with your account) or by a prominent notice displayed on the platform before the change takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
